Not as many tourists venture into Northern Iceland, but it is worth the extra travel! Simply driving up Highway 1 to the north is a feast for the eyes.

On this day we started out in the darling city of Akureyri (largest city in the north) and looped through mountains, canyons, lakes, caves, and waterfalls, waterfalls, waterfalls.

The route is known as the “Diamond Circle” and it is spectacular. We end the day in the “Whale Watching Capital of Iceland” Husavik. More on that in a later post.
